Myers and Rosenberger Publish on Natural Helpers in the University Community

Dave Myers and Eric Rosenberger, IUP Counseling Center, published “A Humanistic Framework for Helping Students” in the December 2012 issue of About Campus, a magazine published by ACPA: College Student Educators International.

According to the article, we all can be “natural helpers” in our relationships with students. Through both their counseling and teaching experience, Myers and Rosenberger know the importance of “natural helpers”—those outside professional counseling roles who are important resources to students who find themselves in distress. The article demonstrates that natural helpers can learn the basic set of skills widely considered important for helping students in need.
