On Saturday, January 26, 2013, the Religious Studies Department, friends, and family gathered at the Coventry Inn to bid farewell to Kwasi Yirenkyi as he began his much-deserved retirement. Kwasi is our friend and was our colleague for 26 years, and will be greatly missed.
Braving the cold weather were several members of the department and their families, longtime friend Sherrill Begres (professor emeritus of the Department of Philosophy), Kwasi's wife Rose, and his two sons, Kwasi and Asanti.
After dinner, Terri Smith presented Kwasi with a farewell gift of a memento box inset with an image of Sutton Hall. She and others then spoke of their happy memories with Kwasi and their best wishes to him and Rose for a long and wonderful retirement. Kwasi and Rose will remain in the area for a time, but eventually will return to Ghana, where they have a house.
