Professor Alison Downie led a Six O'Clock Series event entitled “Make it Real: Learning to Learn” at IUP Punxsutawney on January 29, 2013. The presentation was designed to help students think about the learning process at the university level.
Downie summarized some important research findings on how people learn and why some types of information are easier than others to remember or learn. She challenged common assumptions and misperceptions about learning and emphasized why a community atmosphere in classes and on campus is so important in the learning process.
