Great Decisions Lecture Series Begins February 5

The Office of Adult and Continuing Education announces the start of the Great Decisions Lecture/Discussion Series. The series runs from February 5 through April 2, 2013. The sessions, which are led by current and retired IUP professors, take place Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Court at St. Andrew’s Village.

This series is part of the Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions program, the nation’s largest discussion program on world affairs. Topics are based on those in the association’s annual Great Decisions briefing book.

The series is offered by the IUP Office of Adult and Continuing Education, in cooperation with the Court at St. Andrew’s Village, the American Association of University Women, and the New Century Club of Indiana.

The session schedule and discussion leaders are as follows:

  • Feb. 5, “Future of the Euro,” presented by Will Radell, Economics
  • Feb. 12, “Egypt,” Waleed Farag, Computer Science
  • Feb. 19, “NATO,” Edward Platt, Political Science professor emeritus
  • Feb. 26, “Myanmar and Southeast Asia,” Soo Chun Lu, History
  • March 5, “Intervention,” Sarah Wheeler, Political Science
  • March 12, “Iran,” Pooja Rishi, Political Science
  • March 26, “China in Africa,” Steve Jackson, Political Science
  • April 2, “Threat Assessment,” Mac Fiddner, Political Science

The cost of the series is $52, and registration is full.
