The Energy Sustainability Team, comprising faculty from the Departments of Geoscience, Geography and Safety Sciences, has received Strategic Initiatives funding from President Michael Driscoll for "Engaging and Educating Shale Gas Partners: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Understanding our Shale Gas Industry."
A large portion of the funding will be used to develop a two-day summer workshop to further understanding of the rapidly growing shale gas industry among municipal stakeholders and community partners.
Faculty and regional industry representatives will use case study models to explain the tools, issues, and opportunities of Marcellus shale development and extraction in the area.
