The Department of Nursing and Allied Health Professions received the annual state board report compiling NCLEX-RN Exam pass rates for all RN programs. The pass rate is established for first-time test takers over the last reporting year (October 1, 2011, to September 30, 2012).

Graduates of the IUP baccalaureate program during this reporting period achieved a passing rate of 99.18 percent, with 121/122 students passing the exam on the first try! The pass rate for the state of Pennsylvania was 90.79 percent, while the national pass rate was 90.23 percent for this same report period. This is the highest the national pass rate has been in a while.

A 99.18 percent pass rate represents a significant accomplishment once again by all of our Nursing graduates! The department appreciates the dedication of all our Nursing faculty who so diligently adhere to our academic and progression standards in our Nursing program. This truly is a testimony to high-quality teaching by our faculty, persistent student preparation for the exam, and the effectiveness of the screening criteria for admission to our program as we strive for student success!
