Business Honors Students Take a Leadership Trip to D.C.

D.C. leadership trip groupThe Eberly College of Business and Information Technology sponsored its annual leadership trip to Washington, D.C., from October 25–27, 2012, for sophomores and juniors in the Business Honors program.

A total of 23 students in the Business Honors program embarked on the trip to learn valuable leadership skills while exploring the nation’s capital.

On the first day of the trip, students toured the World Bank and Arlington National Cemetery. At the World Bank, students were able to speak with prominent representatives who taught them about what the World Bank does and what makes for an outstanding job candidate.

The next day, students toured the Pentagon. Students also had the opportunity to go to the American Society for Competitiveness Conference, a conference that brings together leaders from business, government, and academia to discuss approaches and experiences in business. Professors from all over the world attended the conference to share their ideas. Students learned valuable information about the business world from these leaders.

The last day of the trip was designated free time for students, allowing them to experience sites in D.C. not included on the trip’s schedule.

“It was very enjoyable for all of the students, and we are all very grateful for getting the chance to interact with business world leaders. We got a lot out of this trip, including knowledge and memories,” said Jamie Czech, a Business Honors student who attended the trip.

The trip to D.C. served as a means to allow students to gain information through real world experience, and they all relished in this learning opportunity with a positive attitude.

A similar leadership trip to New York City is scheduled for December 6–8, 2012.
