Indiana University of Pennsylvania is one of seven universities in Pennsylvania and 118 in the nation recognized by the National Cyber Security Alliance for its work in connection with National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

As part of an online resource kit, the alliance compiled a comprehensive list of higher education institutions that have conducted activities in recognition of the awareness month in October 2012.

The Information Technology Services team at IUP has created resources, including an information protection plan and mobile device security guidelines for students and faculty members. It also created a mini-website devoted to National Cyber Security Awareness Month and released weekly cybersecurity tips through its online news presence.

“What makes this notable is that our materials have bubbled up enough that NCSA could easily find them and therefore include IUP on the list,” Bill Balint, chief information officer at IUP, said.

The National Cyber Security Alliance is a nonprofit organization that works with government, industry, nonprofit, and academic sectors to help people use the Internet safely and securely.
