Business Resource Room Opens in Stephenson Hall

Business Resource RoomThe Eberly College of Business and Information Technology celebrated the completion of the new Business Resource room in 202 Stephenson Hall on October 18, 2012. IUP Ambassadors as well as Eberly personnel held a reception to showcase the new room.

This resource room is a great addition to the Office of Housing, Residential Living, and Dining’s Living-Learning Community, allowing business students to utilize it for a wide variety of academic purposes.

The resource room was able to become a reality thanks to donations totaling $10,000 from the IUP Ambassadors and the Eberly College of Business. The University Museum provided art installations on loan as an additional means to make the room attractive.

“IUP and the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology sincerely thank the IUP Ambassadors for their generous gift that made the furnishing of the Resource Room in Stephenson Hall a reality. It is truly gratifying to work with a group of students who so fully understand the impact that charitable giving can make,” said Development officer Susan Stake.

The room includes resources such as a desk, a bookcase with numerous business periodicals and textbooks, an interactive television screen, a large conference table, and six armchairs. With a window view overlooking Eberly, the location of the Business Resource room is well integrated with the College of Business.

“This space will definitely enhance the experience of the business students living and studying in Stephenson Hall,” Stake said.

The space has been used for a variety of different purposes in the first month of its existence. The Office of Housing, Residential Living, and Dining meets in the room bi-weekly, community assistant and academic support mentor programs have been held there, and students have used the room approximately 70 times for individual and group studying.

The Business Resource room has been a beneficial asset to Stephenson Hall, creating a comfortable and productive space for organizations and students to work in.
