Crystal Machado, Professional Studies in Education, and Jessica Halchak and Patricia McCarthy, doctoral candidates in Administration and Leadership Studies, participated in a panel discussion titled “Social Media Connections: Finding the Network That Fits You” during the President’s Commission on the Status of Women “In Sisterhood” conference on May 30, 2012, at IUP.
The panel described popular social media networks, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, GetGlue, Instagram, LastFM, Bogs, G+, and FourSquare.
Personal anecdotes from each presenter illustrated how different networks fulfill different needs. Workshop participants were given an opportunity to explore some of the features of each social media and determine which social media networks fit them best.
