IUP Participates in Landmark Arts Alumni Survey

IUP joins hundreds of other universities in participating in the 2012 Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP), an online survey that enables arts alumni nationwide to share their life and professional stories.

This fall, all IUP arts alumni will receive an e-mail invitation to participate in the survey from Michael Hood, dean of the College of Fine Arts, and the chair of their department (Andrew Gillham, chair of the Department of Art; Jack Stamp, chair of the Department of Music; or Brian Jones, Chair of the Department of Theater and Dance).

All alumni are warmly invited to respond, whether they’ve stayed in the arts or work in other fields.

After completing the survey, alumni will have access to an exclusive website where they can see how their experience compares with those of other arts graduates in North America. They can see where arts graduates live, where they work, what they earn, and how their arts educations have influenced their lives.

What’s the benefit to IUP?

“By sharing their life and career experiences with us in the SNAAP survey,” said Hood, “our alumni help us understand how the experiences created at IUP resonate after they graduate. Good, hard data will encourage us to improve what we do, raising the value of their IUP degree and allowing us to accurately describe the value of an arts education to prospective students and to the general public.”

SNAAP is supported by grants from the Surdna Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and other foundations.
