The IUP Student Chapter of the Pennsylvania Prison Society will be displaying a poster in the lobby area of Wilson Hall through next Wednesday, October 3, 2012.
The poster includes information regarding the death penalty and case of Terry Williams. Williams is scheduled to be executed October 3, 2012, and he states that his victim had sexually abused him while he was young. Supporters of Mr. Williams are petitioning Governor Corbett for clemency since none of the information about the alleged abuse was introduced at trial.
Students will have an opportunity to sign an online petition for clemency and can review facts of the case and other information about the death penalty. Daniel Lee is the advisor of the local IUP chapter and is part of the Department of Criminology faculty.
