Lewis Awarded National Science Foundation Grant for Taiwan Tectonic Studies

Loading...

A proposal by Jon Lewis, Geoscience Department, and two collaborators at the University of Connecticut has been funded by the National Science Foundation. Lewis and his collaborators are trying to understand non-equilibrium landscapes in southern Taiwan.

The southern Central Mountain Rangeis characterized by relatively gentle landscapes seemingly perched within some of the highest mountains of Taiwan. Lewis and his students will focus on modeling earthquakes underneath this region to document how Earth's crust in this area might be deforming to accommodate these stranded landscapes.
