Maggie Herb, Composition and TESOL doctoral student and IUP Writing Center assistant director from 2007–2009, has accepted a position as a full-time faculty member at Stetson University, a liberal arts college in Daytona, Florida.
Herb will be Stetson’s first full-time Writing Center director. She will work directly with tutors to improve training techniques and expand the center’s physical space on campus.
“The [Composition and TESOL] program here and my experience prepared me well for the Writing Center director job,” Herb said. “I’m going in there with a lot of ideas, and I think that’s due to working with Dr. Ben Rafoth and a lot of the tutors here.” She is now completing her dissertation research and plans to graduate with her Ph.D. degree in December.
In addition to directing Stetson’s Writing Center, Herb will also teach first-year composition courses.
