Lewis to Teach on Board U.S. JOIDES Resolution as Part of Deep Earth Academy's School of Rock Expedition

Jon LewisProfessor Jon Lewis, Department of Geoscience, will be one of three instructors on board the U.S. drilling vessel JOIDES Resolution on May 23–June 2, 2012, for Ship to Shore Science, a program for educators offered by the Deep Earth Academy as part of its School of Rock.

Lewis will start work on May 20 on the island nation of Curacao, helping to lead a two-day onland and underwater field trip with Jon Snow of the University of Houston. From there the group sails to Bermuda as the ship prepares for a drilling expedition off the coast of Newfoundland.

A researcher with the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program, Lewis will teach informal science educators who are developing a spectrum of education and outreach activities.
