As part of Eberly’s 34th Business Day, students had the opportunity to listen to presentations and network with nearly 60 business leaders at Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.

Eberly’s 34th Business Day

The April 5, 2012, event included a morning and afternoon session, where more than 800 students, business leaders, faculty, administrators, and staff participated in professional development and networking events.

As part of the morning session, Skillpath Training Co., presented a workshop on interviewing, social networking, and dressing for success. Also, during the morning session, a panel presentation on the Eberly common reader That Used to be Us, by Thomas Friedman and Michael Mandelbaum, was held, including panel members from the Business Honors Junior Cohort, Eberly faculty, and business advisory council members. The book was selected by the junior cohort as part of their common reader project.

“I thought that the panel discussion was a great way to introduce the business students to the common reader that will be used in the fall,” said student Catelin Shontz. “I also felt that the networking session was great as there were so many business professionals there that were willing to talk to students and give them advice.”

Networking at Business Day

The afternoon session featured a networking session with approximately 60 business leaders. Following the networking session, a luncheon was held and featured Erica Wright, manager of public affairs of Kennamental, as keynote speaker.

Business Day also included the induction of IUP alumni to the Business Hall of Distinction as follows:

Phil Carrai ’83, president of Kratos Technology and Training Division; Ric Clark ’80, chief executive officer of Brookfield Office Properties and senior managing partner and chief executive officer of Global Real Estate, Brookfield Asset Management; Marla A. Sabo ’79, partner, Fireman Capital Partners; Suzy Teele ’82, chief marketing officer of SnapRetail; Patrick Wallace ’85, president and lead financial advisor of Covington Investment Advisors, Inc.; Theodore Young ’89, Midwest region tax leader of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
