New News in the “HawkEye”

This just in: The HawkEye has two new items of community interest:

• Gerald E. Smith, a founder of the Indiana County environmental group Coalition for a Healthy County, opines about his attendance at a March 14 state Department of Environmental Protection hearing on the Homer City coal-fired power plant and state Senator Don White’s “inflammatory rhetoric” on the issue.
• The HawkEar on March 1 aired a program previewing the 35th Annual Appalachian Studies Conference scheduled for Indiana University of Pennsylvania on March 23–25.

The HawkEye is an online newspaper published by the Journalism Department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The HawkEar is an affiliated radio program that airs every other Thursday on WIUP-FM (90.1). The show is sponsored by the campus chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
