The IUP Libraries is hosting a display window on the first floor of Stapleton Library in celebration of the 35th annual Appalachian Studies Association (ASA) national conference being held at IUP on March 23–25, 2012.
The display features books about northern Appalachia and Pennsylvania coal culture taken from the library’s circulation collection, as well as rare photographs, United Mine Workers of America memorabilia, and coal mining artifacts from the Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal Company Records housed in Special Collections.
This is the first ASA national conference north of the Mason-Dixon Line. The theme of this year’s conference is “The Wide Reach of Appalachia.”
The display will run through the month of March.
