The University Museum at Indiana University of Pennsylvania will open a new exhibit Saturday, February 11, 2012. Titled Multiversity: IUP Faculty Artists, the exhibit features work by faculty in the IUP Department of Art. The exhibit runs through Saturday, March 24.

Part of the University Museum’s mission is to showcase fine art made in our own region by artists who exhibit their work nationally and internationally. To this end, the season opened with the retrospective of an artist, Paul Binai, who lives in Indiana and whose work has been shown in Europe, Asia, and across the United States.

With this upcoming exhibit, the season continues with current and recent works by IUP’s own and highly celebrated art faculty.

According to museum board president William Double, “The title ‘Multiversity’ reflects the diversity of our faculty artists’ creative voices as well as the media and techniques they employ to express them.”

Andrew Gillham, chair of the Department of Art and one of the artists whose works will be on display, stated we very much “look forward to the upcoming exhibition of faculty artwork and research. Some of the pieces are recently back from national or international exhibitions, while others are so new that they have not yet been exhibited anywhere else.”

There will be a free public opening on Saturday, February 11, from 6:00-8:30 p.m.

A series of presentations by several of the artists is being planned. Dates will be announced on the museum’s web calendar as plans are confirmed.
