Service Learning Expert to Offer Workshops to Faculty, Staff

The Office of the Provost and IUP’s Center for Teaching Excellence invite all IUP faculty and staff to attend Patrick Green’s workshop about Service Learning on Friday, February 10, 2012.

The same workshop will be offered twice to accommodate faculty and staff schedules. You may attend either the morning session from 9:00–11:30 or the afternoon session from 1:00–3:30 in the Allenwood, Ackerman Hall. Reservations are not required, but appreciated. Contact Mary Anne Hannibal at hannibal@iup.edu.

“Service Learning: When to, Why to, How to, and Taking it up a Notch” is intended for all faculty and staff—those having no experience with service learning and those who already have employed service learning but want to delve more into philosophical underpinnings of service learning as it relates to civic engagement, higher-order reasoning, and structured reflection.

Patrick Green, a dynamic presenter, is director of the Center for Experiential Learning and clinical instructor of experiential learning at Loyola University in Chicago. His current research focuses on the impact of experiential education programs on skill development, core competencies, and career development.
