Music Faculty and Alumni to Perform with Mannheim Steamroller

Members of the IUP Studio Orchestra will perform live with Mannheim Steamroller this Thursday, November 17, 2011, at Kovalchick Complex. Among the IUP faculty members are Stanley Chepaitis, Kim Weiner, Stephanie Caulder, and Kevin Eisensmith. Former IUP alumni include Jason Allison and Kevin Eisensmith.

“Having performed with Mannheim Steamroller in 2008, I can assure those who attend an entertaining and memorable concert,” said Kevin Eisensmith, professor of Trumpet at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

The classic holiday tour of Mannheim Steamroller will be playing live in Indiana, Pa., for one performance only, making Kovalchick Complex the sole venue in all of Western and Central Pennsylvania to feature the music group.

While Mannheim Steamroller is known worldwide, the story of founder Chip Davis is a true-life tale of a modern day “Renaissance Man,” from founding his own record label, American Gramaphone, which has been ranked by Billboard as the number one independent label, to creating the Mannheim Steamroller “lifestyle” of food, apparel, and other products.

Chip’s accomplishments have been extraordinary. His latest achievement is creating a cutting-edge psychoacoustic technology that is being used in major medical institutions such as Mayo Clinic and is also being studied by NASA for potential use in space.
