Dialectical Behavior Therapy Workshop Offered by Center for Counselor Training and Services

The IUP Center for Counselor Training and Services (CCTS) will be featuring a workshop on Dialectical Behavior Therapy in January 2012. Dr. Safdir Chaudhary will present on an “Introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy” on Friday, January 27, at the IUP Monroeville Graduate and Professional Center.

Dr. Chaudhary is medical director for S’eclairer, an organization devoted to the dissemination of evidence-based practices that is located in Demont, Pa. He is diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Adult, Addiction, Geriatric, and Forensic Psychiatry. He has been practicing psychiatry for the past twenty years, and has received two years of intensive training by Behavioral Tech Research, Inc., in learning and implementing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Kimberly S. Ruth, a counselor at S’eclairer, will serve as the copresenter for the workshop. She is a licensed professional counselor and a CAC diplomat. She graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with an M.S. in Community Agency Counseling.

The workshop is coordinated by CCTS, an IUP center created to develop professional workshops and training for community and school counseling professionals throughout the region. CCTS is directed by Dr. John McCarthy, professor of Counseling.
