IUP Punxsutawney celebrated Family Weekend 2011 with the community’s most famous citizen, Punxsutawney Phil.
The world-famous groundhog greeted over a 150 parents and students of the First Year Program and the Academy of Culinary Arts at the evening’s dinner buffet.
The day of family activities included a morning brunch with members of the faculty and staff, a display of student talent and curricular works, a raffle featuring over $1,000 in gift baskets and certificates from the community, pumpkins for all siblings, and the full-course prime rib dinner and dessert buffet prepared by Aramark Chef Bob Stevens and his staff.
Pictured with Punxsutawney Phil are first-year students Anadelyz Marquez and Nini Pena-Collazo, both of Philadelphia. Assistant Dean Theo Turner chaired the successful Family Weekend effort.
