Psychology Faculty and Students Participate in Second Annual PASSHE Psychology Conference

The second annual PASSHE Psychology Conference was held October 14 and 15, 2011, at Kutztown University.

This conference is a yearly gathering designed to foster community and allow for members of the psychology departments at the fourteen state universities to share ideas and research findings. The inaugural conference was hosted last year by the IUP Psychology Department.

There was an increase in both the number of universities represented at the conference and the number of presentations from the first to the second year. A total of nine presentations were made by IUP students (Chloe DePaolo, Adrianne Fuller-St.-John, Michael Gregory, Michael Robb, Sarah Scholl, Rachel Snyder, and Iryna Yavorska) and faculty members (David LaPorte, Anson Long, Lisa Newell, Raymond Pavloski, and Margaret Reardon). Deanne Snavely, dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, supported student travel and also provided refreshments during the Saturday afternoon conference session.

IUP’s leadership in establishing the event and in providing support was noted by Jason Lanter, who coordinated this year’s conference, and by Anita Meehan, chair of the Kutztown Psychology Department.

A great deal of enthusiasm for this conference was expressed by participants. The Psychology Department at Millersville University announced that they will host next year’s event.

Fun photos of the event are available online.
