Celtic Fiddler Eileen Ivers to Perform at IUP Libraries

At noon on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, the IUP Libraries will host award-winning Celtic fiddler Eileen Ivers for a special event in advance of her December Irish Christmas concert.

Ms. Ivers will be hosted by Dean of Libraries Luis Gonzalez and Music Librarian Carl Rahkonen. She will perform several traditional Celtic pieces that illustrate her culture and the repertoire, while Dr. Rahkonen will share information about the music, its history, and its relationship to Irish culture.

Those attending will be invited to ask questions and meet with Ms. Ivers following this informal performance. They will also be given information about the December concert and special discount coupons for that performance.

The performance is part of the the Leonard A. and Mary Jane Schafer Foundation Lecture. Visit the Lively Arts page to learn more about Ms. Ivers and her upcoming performances.
