The President’s Commission on the Status of Women at IUP, in conjunction with the Haven Project, will present a film and discussion in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The commission will show the thirty-minute film An Empty Place at the Table, a documentary that begins the conversation about domestic violence in the United States, on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in Stabley Library, room 210. Narrated by Susan Sarandon, it features an extraordinary art exhibition conceived by the Women’s Resource Center, Inc., in Scranton, Pa., that honors the lives of women and children murdered in acts of domestic violence.

Representatives from the Haven Project and faculty member Michele Papakie will be on hand following the film to answer questions and to provide additional information on this critical topic.
