The 2011 SECA Campaign is your chance to support charitable organizations around the corner and around the world.
SECA, which is short for State Employee Combined Appeal, is the annual charitable giving campaign for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employees. The 2011 SECA campaign runs from September 19 through November 4, 2011.
“Over the past two decades, state employees have raised over $81 million to countless worthy causes through SECA,” said Governor Tom Corbett, who serves as chairperson of the campaign. “Your generosity and compassion toward others is truly inspiring. It’s an honor to be part of such a great tradition.”
The theme of this year’s campaign is “I give because…” We all have different reasons for giving and causes we care deeply about. With nearly 1,400 nonprofit agencies participating in SECA, you can easily find organizations whose missions align with your personal values serving local, regional, national, and global needs and causes.
You can give as little as $1 per pay. Or, consider becoming a Guideline Giver. That’s when you donate the equivalent of one hour’s worth of wage per month, which is less than 1 percent of your annual salary.
Best of all, donating through SECA is easy and convenient. Most employees choose to pledge through automatic payroll deductions, though one-time donations by check or cash are also welcome. In the next few days you will receive a pledge form in the campus mail. Please take a moment to consider making a SECA pledge. Pledge forms, instructions for completing the form, and a complete list of participating agencies are also available on IUP’s SECA website. The completed form needs to be returned in hard copy to: SECA 2011, Ray Wygonik, Engineering and Construction Office, Robertshaw Bldg. The form can be sent through IUP interoffice mail.
If you have any questions, or would like the pledge form or information sent to you in hard copy, please contact Mandi Custer at email@example.com or Ray at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Giving through SECA is non-political. It is endorsed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, by IUP, and by all the labor organizations representing IUP faculty and staff.
Last year, IUP raised over $19,000. The goal for 2011 is $22,000. If each IUP employee contributed $1 per pay, we would raise over $39,000. Together, we can make 2011 the best year for SECA, yet!
