Dr. Paul Carranza, visiting assistant professor of Spanish, presented a paper at the tenth biennial conference of the Society for Renaissance and Baroque Hispanic Poetry at Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on September 5, 2011.

Also presenting at the conference were dozens of other scholars from the U.K., Spain, Ireland, the U.S., and Mexico.

Dr. Carranza’s paper focused on the poetry of Garcilaso de la Vega, the most important poet of the Spanish Renaissance, and its relationship to the poetry of Ausonius, the fourth-century Latin poet and author of the Mosella, a poem describing the Moselle river.
