Several thousand students attended the 2011 Freshman Convocation under the clear, blue sky of Sunday, August 28, 2011.
As a culmination to the successful Welcome Weekend, the Class of 2015 was welcomed by IUP Interim President David Werner, student trustee Andrew Longacre, and IUP's 2008-2009 University Professor Dr. Jack Stamp.
In addition to faculty, staff, and other members of the IUP community, also in attendance were past recipients of the IUP University Professor honor. Among this select group was Dr. Don McPhearson, IUP University Professor in 1993—coincidentally, the year of birth for many of the entering freshman class.
