Never Give Your Passwords to Anyone

As a new academic year begins, you are reminded to NEVER share your passwords with anyone.

Follow these tips to keep your passwords safe:

  • If you receive an e-mail message asking for your username and password, do not respond! No one at IUP will ever ask for this information in an e-mail message.
  • Be suspicious of any message that asks you to update your profile by clicking on a link. Hover over the link to view the actual URL to verify that the destination is valid. If you aren't sure, don't click on it. Clicking on random links from e-mail messages could result in having your PC or laptop infected with malware, and some malware is designed to steal passwords.
  • Take advantage of the Anti-Spam Service. This will help in identifying messages that could be malicious in nature.

You can also take some time to visit the Personal PC Security section of the IT Support Center to learn more about staying safe on the Internet.
