September 15 Football Game Nationally Broadcast; Alumni Enter Hall of Fame

IUP will be in the national spotlight Thursday, September 15, 2011, when the CBS Sports Network televises the home football game vs. BloVisit the IUP Athletics websiteomsburg. Kickoff is at 8:00 p.m. ET.

IUP has ushered in a new era as Curt Cignetti, son of IUP football coaching legend Frank Cignetti ’60, has taken the reins of the program. Curt Cignetti, who coached at Alabama for the past four seasons, will be looking to turn around a team that went 6-5 overall in 2010, finishing in a tie for fourth with a 3-4 conference mark.

The nationally televised game is the second home game on the schedule. Ten men and two women will be inducted into the IUP Athletic Hall of Fame at the first game on Saturday, September 10. They are Steve Murray ’99 (baseball), Dick Crawford ’68, Kurt Kanaskie and Robert Misenko ’97 (basketball), George Glarner ’56 and Sam Scavo ’61 (football), Joe Klinchock ’86 and Ed Matko ’51 (golf), Michelle Goodwin ’89 (gymnastics), Amy Peterson ’95 and Frank Wolk ’83 (soccer), and Bob Vranich ’94 (track and field). In addition, Bill Otto will be given the Honorary Bell Ringer Award. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
