PASSHE Women’s Consortium Conference Focuses on Identities

The PASSHE Women’s Consortium will hold its annual conference November 4 and 5, 2011, at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.

Call for Presentations

The 2011 conference theme, “Constructing, Deconstructing, and Reconstructing Identities” encourages people to explore how the idea of “identity” or “identities” works in our current social, political, economic, athletic, religious, and artistic environments.

The theme is intentionally broad to allow people to focus on their specific areas of interest.

The following formats for presentations are being accepted:

  1. Topic/Research Panels: Panel proposals should include one to four people exploring a specific topic. Panel proposals should include the names and contact information for the panelists, the titles of their presentations, an overall title for the panel, and a rationale.
  2. Teaching Panel: A teaching panel includes one to five people seeking to educate the attendees of the conference about a topic area. Teaching panel proposals should include the names and contact information for participants, an overall title, and a rationale. You do not need to be a professor to offer a teaching panel.
  3. Performance Panel: A performance panel allows participants to perform a theatrical piece, artistic work, or musical piece for the conference attendees. Performance panel proposals should include the names and contact information for participants, an overall title, and a rationale.

One of the goals of the PASSHE Women’s Consortium conferences is to foster discussion among participants. Regardless of the format of the presentation, presenters need to allow time for discussion of the topics and are encouraged to actively engage audience members.

All members of the university community—students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty and staff members, and administrators—are encouraged to propose panels for the annual conference.
