A group of Electro-Optics students from the IUP at Northpointe campus attended the SPIE Optifab Conference in Rochester, New York, on May 10–11, 2011.
The conference was sponsored by SPIE (International Society for Optics and Photonics) and the American Precision Optics Manufacturers Association. SPIE Opitfab is a robust biennial exhibition of over 150 companies, displaying a unique technical program with over eighty presentations and offering workshops for working engineers.
The students were exposed to technologies such as optical manufacturing, advanced fabrication equipment, diamond turning, coating equipment, and process and metrology developments and equipment. During the students’ visit to Rochester, they were able to visit the University of Rochester to tour the Institute of Optics.
