Women’s Tennis Team Advances to Nationals

Emilia Osborne won the final completed match of the night to send IUP to nationals

The women’s tennis team earned its first berth at the NCAA national tournament with a 5-4 win over Slippery Rock in the Atlantic Region championship match on May 2, 2011.

The Crimson Hawks (21-6) will play in the national round of sixteen, to be held May 11–14 in Altamonte Springs, Fla. They are ranked thirty-eighth in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Slippery Rock was the defending regional champion.

Winning their matches Monday were IUP’s Tabtip Louhabanjong, Emilia Osborne, and Ranvita Mahto on the singles side and the doubles teams of Ranvita Mahto/Kelly McBryan and Emilia Osborne/Alex Ballard.
