Final exams

The following tips on preparing for final exams were provided by Dr. Sally Lipsky, study-skills expert from the Developmental Studies Department:

  • Find out as much as you can in advance about the exam to prevent surprises (material to be covered, type of exam, location and time of exam).
  • Start studying now, not at the last minute.
  • Choose a comfortable location, distraction-free, for studying.
  • Develop your own summary study guide to refresh your memory.
  • Recite aloud to yourself as you study. (It helps you to remember.)
  • Develop a set of practice questions.
  • Get plenty of rest and practice a healthy, mentally alert lifestyle in advance of the exam.
  • Finally, gain a feeling of confidence by knowing that you are well-prepared.

Good luck!
