Possibility of Retrenchment

A letter was sent Friday, April 15, 2011, from each State System university president to his/her local APSCUF chair, providing required notification of the possibility of retrenchment for the 2012-2013 academic year because of financial considerations, program curtailment, and other reasons.

The letters are being sent to comply with contractual agreements and don’t necessarily mean that retrenchment will occur. We are engaged in efforts to clarify our mission and set our academic priorities in order to better focus our efforts on our strategic goals. We must reallocate resources to institutional priorities, and this will mean reducing or eliminating academic programs and services not central to our mission.

We will keep the lines of communication open and provide as much information as we can as soon as it is available.
