“Into the Streets” Project in Need of Nonprofit Agencies to Serve

Because of the record-breaking response from IUP students for the spring “Into the Streets” day of service Saturday, April 9, 2011, the Office of Service Learning is looking for nonprofit agencies that need volunteer assistance.

Agencies interested in hosting volunteers should send a representative to a meeting Wednesday, April 6, at 5:30 p.m. in the Hadley Union Building Monongahela Room and should pre-register before the meeting. Agency representatives can get more information or pre-register by contacting Vanessa Gregorakis in the Office of Service Learning at 724-357-3103.

Nearly three hundred students—almost one hundred more than in the fall—have committed to participating in the spring Into the Streets project.

Volunteer service projects could include gardening, spring cleaning, or painting.

Into the Streets is an event developed to increase and diversify the number of people participating in sustained and thoughtful community service in the Indiana area.
