IUP chief information officer Bill Balint has been invited to speak at the “Getting Started with InCommon” workshops on February 15 and 16, 2011, at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.
InCommon Federation senior experts from Brown University, Indiana University, and Internet2 round out the four-person team.
The workshops will be attended by information technology leaders representing five states from a number of New England’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning, health care, and public IT. The workshops are intended to acquaint attendees with the emerging federated identity management concept and how it can create more seamless and secure access by users needing to integrate a variety of “cloud-based” and locally-hosted applications.
IUP joins Carnegie Mellon, Lafayette, Penn State, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Pittsburgh as Pennsylvania’s six InCommon Federation members.
