Eberly Students Tour Coca-Cola Headquarters in Atlanta

Members of the International Business Association (IBA) at the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology (ECOBIT) toured the Coca-Cola Company international headquarters on December 3, 2010, in Atlanta, Ga.

The students listened to presentations by Carlos Vazquez, global manager in charge of supplier relationships at the company, and Chris Martin, senior manager of global strategic sourcing at the company during a tour of the company’s campus, co-sponsored by ECOBIT and IBA.

Vazquez and Martin discussed the company’s history, supply chain and brand portfolio during the presentations, said José Diaz-De Jesus, a senior international business and sport administration dual major and IBA president.

The students also learned about the company’s social efforts and its environmental preservation strategy, he said. One such strategy is called “water stewardship” in which the company hopes to become “water neutral” by 2020. The program’s purpose is to “replenish to nature and communities an amount of water equivalent to what is used in our finished beverages,” according to the company’s website.

“There is no doubt that if the company succeeds in this program, it will change the way to do business worldwide,” Diaz-De Jesus said.
