Dr. Arden Hamer, Department of Developmental Studies, presented “On-Screen vs. On-Paper Reading Strategies” at the forty-third annual College Reading and Learning Association Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, in November 2010.
The presentation detailed the results of her research on the various strategies students use when reading on-screen vs. on-paper, as well as their stated format preferences.
In addition, Dr. Hamer organized and coordinated the first One Book-One Conference initiative for the organization. The book, Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell, was announced early in the year and was publicized on the conference website. During the conference Dr. Hamer facilitated discussions about the book culminating with a formal discussion as one of the concurrent sessions.
