Robertsons to Discuss Western Pennsylvania Dialect Research on Radio

Dr. Shari Robertson, dean’s associate in the School of Graduate Studies and Research and professor of speech-language pathology, and Brianna Robertson, a graduate of IUP’s Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology program, will be featured on KDKA-AM radio (AM 1020) Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at 8:30 a.m.

The Robertsons will discuss with morning news hosts Larry Richert and John Shumway their research on dialects in the Western Pennsylvania region (“Convergence and Divergence Trends of the Western Pennsylvania Dialect”).

A feature about their work was published in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on October 24, 2010: “Pittsburghese a Source of Pride for 'Yinzers'.”

The mother-daughter team’s research project was also the subject of an IUP Magazine website feature in June 2010: “Diphthongs and Dahntahn.”
