Luncheon to Cap 2010 SECA Fund Drive

ARAMARK will sponsor a special SECA Campaign Luncheon on Thursday, October 21, 2010, in the Oak Room on the lower level of Foster Hall. The menu will be a traditional turkey dinner: roasted turkey breast; stuffing; mashed potatoes and gravy; sweet potatoes; cranberry sauce; green beans; complete salad bar; two home-style soups; cookies, brownies, and pumpkin pie; beverages.

The cost is the Oak Room’s usual $6.50 price. Hours will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Take-outs will be available upon request. Seating will be limited, and reservations can be made by calling 724-357-5709. All proceeds support IUP’s 2010 campaign for SECA.

Here are names of winners drawn from those who made second-week pledges or gifts to SECA (the State Employee Combined Appeal):

  • Twenty-five-dollar Co-op gift card: Pat McDowell
  • Two tickets to see Boys II Men: Douglas Rutledge
  • Oak Grove commemorative box: Tammy Somogyi
  • Two passes to the Oak Room: Jack Makara, Mary Greb, Dan Shively, Lon Ferguson, Susie Sink, Maggie Shotts, Brad May, and Blaine Knupp

IUP’s SECA campaign extends through Friday, October 22. Those making gifts or pledges this week are eligible to win a football autographed by the 2009 Pittsburgh Steelers, two Performance Plus Lively Arts subscriptions; a reserved parking space for 2011; two basketball season tickets—men’s and women’s; a six-month membership in the Jim Mill Fitness Center; and two passes to the Oak Room. The names of earlier donors are still in contention.

All pledge forms submitted by noon on Friday will qualify for that day’s drawing. Winners’ names will appear in the October 25 edition of IUP Daily.

If they choose, IUP faculty and staff members can use payroll deductions to donate to the SECA campaign. They can also make one-time donations through check, cash, or credit card.

IUP employees no longer receive paper pledge forms. Follow this link to download a PDF version of the pledge form, which employees may print, complete, sign, and mail to the Office of the Associate Vice President for Facilities Management, Attn: Mark Geletka, 233 Sutton Hall. Those unable to access the form are asked to send a message to Bobbie Douglass at bobbie@iup.edu or to call her at 724-357-2429.

On the pledge form, employees should indicate the charities to which they wish to donate (one or several, up to a limit of four). A complete list of charities is available in the SECA Resource Guide. As a convenience to some employees, there is a shorter list of United Way agencies in Western Pennsylvania. If the Agency Designation portion of the form is left blank, the employee’s contribution will be distributed proportionately to the eight umbrella organizations in the statewide SECA campaign.

In addition to prizes associated with IUP’s SECA campaign, those who designate the United Way of Indiana County for their gifts or pledges will be eligible to win the following:

  • $10,000 toward purchasing a vehicle at Colonial Motor Mart, Delaney Chevrolet Buick Honda, or TriStar Motors
  • A 42-inch LCD/HD TV
  • A deluxe gas grill

To qualify, the donor needs to be sure to donate at least $208 per year or $8 per pay, based on twenty-six pay periods. Additional commitments in $208 increments will provide additional opportunities for winning.
