IUP Geography and Regional Planning students Zach Afshar, Ayanda Masilela, and Mark Turner presented a poster detailing their research in the East Wing of the Capitol Building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on October 5, 2010.
The students were presenting their project—A GIS-Based Analysis of Nuisance Properties in Indiana Borough, Pennsylvania: 2007–2009—as part of the Undergraduate Research at the Capitol program, sponsored by the Legislative Office for Research Liaison.
The opportunity to present their research and represent IUP was an honor for the students, as only the best projects from each of the twenty-two participating institutions of higher education were selected. During the day, Zach, Ayanda, and Mark were able to discuss their work with many state legislators, including Representative Dave Reed, who represents Pennsylvania District 62 (IUP’s home district).
