Dr. Carl Rahkonen, music librarian, presented the keynote address on “Ethnic Music in Pennsylvania” at the twentieth annual Conference on the History of Northeastern Pennsylvania on October 1, 2010, at Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke.
Dr. Rahkonen’s address focused on German-, Italian-, Polish-, and Irish-American music, particularly in Pennsylvania.
The rest of the conference featured live music performances by John Stanky and the Coalminers with Polish selections, the Joe Lastovica Combo with German and Italian selections, and the Steamtown Ramblers with Irish selections.
