McCarthy Participating in 2010 International Academic Fellowship Program

John McCarthy, professor in the Department of Counseling, has been selected to participate in the International Academic Fellowship Program in the Higher Education Support Program (HESP) of the Open Society Institute for the 2010–2011 academic year.

This will be the second consecutive year that McCarthy will serve as a participant in the program.

The International Scholars Fellowship Program (AFP) brings highly qualified scholars from around the world to serve as experts and consultants, facilitating processes of individual academic and professional development of AFP Returning Scholars and non-AFP local faculty, as well as processes of curriculum and research reforms at AFP partner departments in the region. International Scholars also collaborate with host institutions on the development of new courses, and encourage the development of skills critical to academic work.

In this capacity, Dr. McCarthy will be consulting with the Applied Psychology Program of Yerevan State University (YSU), an institution of approximately 9,000 students in the capital city of Yerevan, Armenia. In addition to visits to YSU, he will be attending HESP Discipline Group meetings in Turkey during the academic year. This will be the second consecutive year that McCarthy will serve as a participant in the program.
