Student Firefighters Receive Scholarship Established by Local Fire Departments

Marcus Sheehan, a member of the Indiana Fire Association, and Kelsey Trunzo, a member of the Creekside Volunteer Fire Department, are the first recipients of the scholarship that was established through a grant received by the Cherry Tree, Creekside, Indiana, Marion Center and Plumville Fire Departments.

IUP Seeds Club Planning Second Annual Seed Swap Project, Open to Community

The Strategies for Ecology Education, Diversity and Sustainability (SEEDS) Club of IUP, a student-organized group, will host the second annual Community Seed Swap on November 14 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The event, free and open to the community, will be held in the Zink Hall gymnasium A.

IUP Recognized for Contributions to Society, Named a 'Best Bang for the Buck' College by National Guide Book

Indiana University of Pennsylvania has been selected, for the seventh consecutive year, by Washington Monthly for its national ranking of schools based on contributions to society. Only 11 universities in Pennsylvania were selected for the recognition in 2015. The three main criteria for the ranking were social mobility, research, and service.

IUP Selected For “Military Friendly Schools” Listing

Indiana University of Pennsylvania has been selected by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs, STEM Jobs, and Military Spouse magazines, for its 2015 list of Military Friendly Schools. This is the fifth year IUP has been selected for the list, which honors institutions the magazine’s editors describe as delivering “the best experience for military students.”

IUP Biology Students Working at Reforestation Project at Flight 93 National Memorial

Biology majors Ian Forte and Cassandra Krul, under the direction of biology faculty members Jeff Larkin and Mike Tyree, are evaluating the success of the reforestation project efforts at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville. The project to evaluate the health and growth of the trees is funded through a $5,000 grant from the National Park Foundation.

IUP Joins National Research Study Testing Best Ways to Learn CPR

Indiana University of Pennsylvania is one of nine schools of nursing chosen to participate in a national research study about cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. The study, “Adaptive BLS Training: Optimizing Individual BLS Maintenance of Competence Training,” will involve 800 nursing students.
