IUP to Offer Paramedic Program

The IUP Institute for Rural Health and Safety has announced the fall 2016 Paramedic Program. This program is primarily designed for future EMS personnel, but is appropriate for anyone who may respond to emergencies, including fire/rescue personnel, nurses, coaches, athletic trainers, and safety professionals.

IUP Institute for Rural Health and Safety Launches Grant-Funded Opioid Overdose Reduction Project

The Institute for Rural Health and Safety received a $100,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Health Resources and Services Administration for a project to help prevent deaths from opioid overdoses. The grant provides naloxone rescue kits and funds training sessions for law enforcement and emergency medical services responders in Indiana County. The project is conducted in partnership with Citizens’ Ambulance Service.
