Student Award Named for Humphreys; Simmons Presents on “The Indestructible Blacklegged Tick”

The Pennsylvania Vector Control Association honored IUP Biology professor emeritus Jan Humphreys at its 2014 conference by announcing that it had changed the name of its student award to the Dr. Jan G. Humphreys PVCA Academic Award for Student Research in Vector Control.

Student Peles Receives Pennsylvania Academy of Science Grant for Master’s Research

Dan Peles, an MS Biology student, received $500 in research grant funds from the Pennsylvania Academy of Science for his proposal, “Determining Mycobacterium avium Host Immune Response Evasion: Serovar 8 serovar-specific glycopeptidolipid (ssGPL) and Its Significance In Phagosome-Lysosome Fusion.”
