On October 30, 2009, the Library Events Team sponsored a Halloween costume party for all library employees. Everyone was encouraged to wear a costume, and administration, faculty, and staff members brought in treats for the library’s student workers. Prizes were awarded for the best costumes, and several library employees won door prizes.

Dr. Carl Rahkonen, librarian of the Orendorff Music Library, had two articles published during summer 2009.

Dr. Kelly Heider, Education Librarian for IUP Libraries, coauthored an article titled “Digital Textbooks: The Next Paradigm Shift in Higher Education?” with Dr. DeAnna Laverick from the Department of Professional Studies in Education and Bethany Bennett, former graduate student, in April 2009.

Dr. Kelly Heider, Education librarian, published an article titled “Information Literacy: The Missing Link in Early Childhood Education” in the June 2009 issue of Early Childhood Education Journal.

Dr. Kelly Heider, Education librarian, published a chapter titled “Alphabet Soup: Using Children’s Literature Databases to Plan Lessons on Letters of the Alphabet” in The Library Instruction Cookbook.
