This public forum on Thursday, November 3, presented by IUP faculty members and student organizations in the Journalism and Public Relations Department and the Political Science Department, will discuss the 2016 election as a teachable moment in truth and falsehood.

Paula Reed Ward: Author Presentation and Book Signing

The Journalism and Public Relations Department will host a presentation on Friday, October 14, by Paula Reed Ward, alumna and author of “Death by Cyanide: The Murder of Dr. Autumn Klein.” Ward will discuss her book, and the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions.

Journalism and Public Relations Department Members Attend Modern Muckrakers Symposium

Two members of the Department of Journalism and Public Relations Department attended a September 27–28 symposium on investigative journalism in Titusville, home to legendary investigative reporter Ida Tarbell, in whose memory the event was held.

Tenth Annual Journo-Palooza Boosts Scholarship Funds

The 10th annual Get Down at the Brown fundraiser featured three rock bands helping to raise funds for two scholarships for Journalism and Public Relations Department majors at IUP. The scholarship funds are managed by the IUP chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

Reconsidering Reassessment and the Property Tax

On April 19, 2016, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. in the Ohio Room of the Hadley Union Building on the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus, the topic of local tax reassessments will be discussed as part of a public discussion about Pennsylvania’s property tax.

Event to Benefit IUP Student Veterans Organization

IUP’s Public Relations Student Society of America chapter has organized an event to benefit the IUP Student Veterans Organization and veterans in need. Spaghetti Benders will host a free-to-enter trivia night on March 14 and will donate 20 percent of the proceeds from food and drinks to the SVO.

Indiana borough police chief William Sutton visited the News Reporting class taught by David Loomis on Wednesday, February 24, to discuss the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law and the state’s Criminal History Record Information Act.
